Nida Butt is a Pakistani producer, arts manager and director and the owner of MAD School (Music, Art & Dance), Made for stage theatre and I am Karachi.[1][2][3]

Career

Nida transitioned from legal career to theatre production.[4] She works formerly in corporate law and then switch to advocacy and research work for Aahung, a Karachi based NGO. And later Nida found three organizations: MAD School (inaugurated in 2009), Made for stage production, and I am Karachi. MAD School is a non profit organization and focuses on nurturing young talent in the performing arts.[2][5][6]

Nida has directed productions such as Chicago, Mamma Mia, Grease and Karachi the Musical.[1][7][3][4][8]

Family

Nida Butt is got married to Hamza Jafri, a singer and founding member of the rock band CO-VEN.[9][10]

Controversies

During the production of ‘’Grease’’ in Karachi, Nida Voiced her frustration with the cast   reportedly yelling, ‘’What a bunch of fools am I working with?’’ This incident underscored an intense pressure and high expectation she places in on her team and this raised questions about her leadership style.[4][11]

Award

Nida has received the nestle women of strength Award and the ladies fund Dawood trailblazer award.[2]


Nida is a fellow of the Devos Arts Management Institute.

Education

Nida Butt holds a degree in Law (LLB) from the university of Warwick and LLM from the university College of London.[2][12]
