Nicos Andronicou (born May 2, 1980) is a Cypriot entrepreneur. He is the founder of the first online supermarket in Cyprus and the CEO of WE Hotels, WE Group, and a director at Andronicou Group of Companies.[1]

Early life and education

Nicos Andronicou was born in Limassol, Cyprus. His grandfather was a spices and pulses exporter in the 1960’s, and his father was a businessman.[2] He is a former basketball player for the Cyprus National Basketball team.[3][4] Andronicou pursued a degree in Business Management at Radford University in the United States. He gained professional training at Amazon and the Spanish retail chain DIA.[4]

Career

In 2004, Andronicou started working with Andronicou Group of Companies and joined A&I Investments and Developments. That same year he became a director at BLP, a company focused on wholesale imports and distribution of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) across Cyprus. In 2008, Andronicou became a director at Smart Discount Shops, the largest private discount supermarket chain in Cyprus.[5] In 2015, Andronicou founded DiaperWays.com, an online shop specializing in baby products which later evolved into WaysExpress.com, the first online multistore in Cyprus.[5] In 2022 Andronicou expanded into the hospitality industry by launching WE Hotels, a global hotel booking platform, as well as WE Media, a communication and marketing agency.[6][7][8][9] In January 2023, Andronicou signed a memorandum of understanding with the Municipality of Limassol to promote sustainable tourism and entrepreneurship.[10][11][12] This partnership aligns with the EU’s Mission Cities initiative, which aims to achieve climate neutrality in cities by 2030.[13]
