Ng Yu Hng (born 1996) is a Singaporean composer.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Ng was born in Singapore, in 1996. He studied music at King's College London from 2017 to 2020, and later read music composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London from 2020 to 2021, under Morgan Hayes. He also had lessons with Hans Abrahamsen, Nicola LeFanu, Phoon Yew Tien, Eleanor Alberga OBE, Philip Cashian, and Tansy Davies among others.[2]
Career
[edit]He is currently living and working in London as a freelance composer, teacher and pianist. As of 2024, his music has been performed in 16 countries across Europe, Asia and North America.[3]
Ng has collaborated and worked with leading musicians, ensembles and orchestras, including the Singapore Chinese Orchestra[4], Mivos Quartet, Black Pencil Ensemble[5], CHROMA, Lontano, Meitar Ensemble, Fretwork Viol Consort, Sopriola [6], Hill Quartet, Philomel, George Fu and Juan Aguilera Cerezo among others.[7] His music is published by NIBIUS Records in Spain, and by Contemporary Music for All (CoMA) in Britain.[8] He has also written articles on music, published by The Strad.[9]
