Nadikar is a drama-entertainer film directed by Jean Paul aka Lal Jr. and written by Suvin S. Somasekharan.[1] Set to be released on the 3 May 2024,[2] this film is co-produced by Godspeed Cinema and Mythri Movie Makers. It features a large ensemble cast led by Tovino Thomas, Soubin Shahir, Balu Varghese, Suresh Krishna and Bhavana. The film follows the life of a superstar who is going through a rough patch and his Hero's journey.
Plot
[edit]David Padikkal is an actor who shot to superstardom through a series of quick box-office successes. This leads to him having the Dunning–Kruger effect, and he starts to overestimate his skills and capabilities as an actor. Drunk on fame and haunted by his past, David makes a series of bad decisions that put his career at risk.
The story revolves around David's complex psychology and how it strains his relationships with the people who care for him, his process of self-discovery and how he eventually becomes a better human being.

Additionally, the film features appearances from Renjith (Director) as Director Koshy, Anoop Menon as Chandradas, Ganapathy as Yo Buddy, and Indrans, Manikuttan, Devika Gopal Nair and Maala Parvathy as themselves in the movie. The movie also features an ensemble of guest appearances as actors play characters from movies that David Padikkal is a part of.
Production
[edit]The shooting for the movie commenced on 11 July 2023.[3] Shot across 30 locations in Kochi, Munnar, Hyderabad, Dubai and Kashmir, the shooting lasted 110 days.[4]
Originally titled Nadikar Thilakam, the title of the movie was officially changed to Nadikar in January 2024 at the request of fans of legendary Tamil actor Sivaji Ganesan who was known by the same moniker. An event was conducted on 23 January 2024 to announce the name change and was attended by Prabhu Ganeshan, the son of Shivaji Ganeshan.[5]
