Draft:NORD 55°

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

NORD 55°[1] is an alliance of leading Nordic cultural and media profiles, established to strengthen a shared Nordic public sphere. The initiative brings together prominent media houses and organizations, including JP/Politiken (Denmark), Amedia (Norway), Bonnier News (Sweden), Sermitsiaq (Greenland), and the Finnish association Konstsamfundet[2]. Supported by a diverse group of cultural and media stakeholders from across the Nordic region, NORD 55° aims to foster collaboration and enhance dialogue within and across the Nordic countries.

The alliance publishes a newsletter six times a year, edited by Hilde Sandvik, which serves as a platform for cross-border cultural and societal debates. This newsletter also builds momentum for the annual NORD 55° summit, with the inaugural event scheduled to take place in Copenhagen in 2026. The primary ambition of NORD 55° is to bolster Nordic democracy and enrich debate culture by creating a new infrastructure for cultural and societal discussions across the region.

NORD 55° was founded by Christian Have, Stig Kirk Ørskov, Lise Bach Hansen, and Hilde Sandvik. Its vision is to create a robust foundation for shared cultural understanding and collaboration, thereby contributing to the resilience and vibrancy of Nordic democratic traditions.
