[edit]

N.P. Upadhyaya was born in the late 1940s in Bairawa, Saptari district. He grew up in Biratnagar and studied at Adarsha School. In the mid-1960s, he moved to Kathmandu. Upadhyaya began his journalism career in 1960 with Jyoti Weekly. Later, he started his own media company called The Telegraph Weekly and its online portal, The Telegraph Online, under his own editorial ownership as the chief editor.

He continued the publication of the English weekly for over three decades. Upadhyaya spent much of his life as a teacher and a journalist. He remained active in Nepal's political scene, especially writing on Nepal and South Asian political circumstances. His articles primarily focused on the geopolitical tensions between India, Nepal, and the South Asian region.
