- Comment: I spent at least 30 minutes trying to access the paywalled sources and found that none of the citations actually back up the claims made in the article. The Reference Reviews article is a review of the book Disney Voice Actors: A Biographical Dictionary, and has no mention of the film Mickey Cuts Up. So using Google Books, I searched the actual book itself, only to discover that it only lists the voice actors without any commentary, true to its title.I did not have access to the full-text of Hollywood Cartoons: American Animation in its Golden Age, but a search bar shows that there is no mention of "mickey cuts up" or "mickey mouse".I could not get access to The animated film encyclopedia: a complete guide to American shorts, features, and sequences, 1900-1979, I recommend adding a quote from the book using the quote= parameter in the citation template to make it easy to verify.Shadow of a Mouse only touches on the film briefly, and does not verify the full date.
Mickey Cuts Up (Burt Gillett/Disney, November 1931) embeds its spatial gag within the performancespace. Pluto is dragging Mickey and his lawn mower west. As the “cam-era” “pans” left, we approach a bench. Its receding orthogonal lineschange with each frame as though it were a solid object (Figure 44). Theeffect is quite jarring, especially because a tree on a top cel is not simi-larly foreshortened. The two-dimensionality of the figures, which haveno roundness or depth and cast no shadows, contrasts markedly withthis three-dimensional invasion in their world.
Music in Disney's Animated Features only discusses the music, true to its title, and has no information on its reception.Have you read the sources before citing? Ca talk to me! 14:37, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Comment: Still fails WP:NFILM - none of the cited references even mention a 1931 short film, Mickey Cuts Up. Dan arndt (talk) 04:38, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: Fails WP:NFILM, requires significant coverage in multiple independent secondary sources. Needs additional sources. Dan arndt (talk) 03:37, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
