Michael Glassow is an American archaeologist and emeritus professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara.[1] Glassow’s research has focused on the prehistory of the Channel Islands of California. Specifically, he has focused on the role of human-environment interactions in shaping the history of the Chumash people of the Northern Channel Islands.[1][2]
Education
[edit]He received his PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1972.[3]
Career
[edit]He has worked as a professor in the Anthropology Department at UCSB since 1969.[3] With a career spanning over 50 years, Glassow was a significant figure in California archaeology during the late 20th and early 21st centuries.[2] He also trained PhD students who went on to work within California Archaeology.[2] He served as the president of the Society for California Archaeology from 1988 to 1989.[4]
