Mashiyama Masatomo (Japanese: 増山正同; March 29, 1843 – April 22, 1887), served as the 8th (and final) daimyō of the Nagashima Domain[1] in Ise. He belonged to the 9th generation of the Mashiyama clan. Following the Meiji Restoration[2], he was granted the title of viscount.

Biography[edit]

Mashiyama Masatomo was born on February 29, 1843. He inherited the Masuyama clan estate in 1852, serving various roles within the Nagashima Domain until the Meiji Restoration[2]. Adopted into the Masuyama clan [ja], he managed the estate until the abolition of the han system[3] in 1871. He later moved to Tokyo, where he held positions as a court priest and chamberlain, eventually receiving the title of viscount in 1884 before passing away in 1887 at the age of 45.
