Mark Wong (born 1996) is a British entrepreneur who founded Impossibrew, a company that produces non-alcoholic beers.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Wong was born in Hong Kong and moved to the United Kingdom at the age of 13.[1] He attended St Edmund's School in Canterbury and later graduated from Durham University with a degree in Philosophy.[2]
Career
[edit]Wong initially pursued a career in the wine industry, obtaining certifications from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).[3]
At age 22, Wong was diagnosed with alcohol-induced liver damage, which led him to stop consuming alcohol.[2] This experience prompted him to explore non-alcoholic alternatives.
Impossibrew
[edit]In 2021, Wong founded Impossibrew, a company producing non-alcoholic beers.[4] The company's products are brewed at Allendale Brewery in Northumberland.[4]
Dragons' Den appearance
[edit]In 2022, Wong appeared on the BBC's Dragons' Den, seeking investment for Impossibrew. While he did not secure investment from the Dragons, the appearance led to increased public interest in the company.[5]
Business development
[edit]Following the Dragons' Den appearance, Impossibrew reported an increase in sales.[4] In 2023, the company conducted a crowdfunding campaign.[6]
In 2024, Impossibrew was listed in the Startups 100, an index of new businesses in the UK.[7]
