King Manavamma of Anuradhapura (684 - 718 A.D) was the son of Kassapa II who ruled Anuradhapura for nine years before dying of a unidentified disease. When he came to the throne, There were power issues between Manavamma and other princes. Because of These power issues Manavamma lived to be a a un-popular king. Then a prince named Dhedopatissa battled Prince Manavamma and Manavamma eventually fled to the Pallava Kingdom of India.

Prince Manavamma served under King Narasinhahavarman I of Pallava and became close to him. King Narasinhahavarman I built Manavamma a army of his own to help Manavamma to re-conquer his kingdom. Prince Manavamma battled King Dhedopatissa. During this battle, King Narasinhahavarman I fell ill and the army had to go back to India. Manavamma served under King Narasinhavarman I for another 20 years before returning to Sri Lanka determined. He defeated the new king, Haththadetha, and starting his reign in 684 A.D, Ending 50 years of conflict between different princes. It is estimated that Manavamma was around 35 years old at this period.
Aftermath[edit]
Manavamma spent half his life dedicating to get his kingdom back and his bloodline would go on to rule Sri Lanka for the 300 years.[1]
