M. Linge Gowda
[edit]Malgalu Linge Gowda (1900-1963) was an Indian politician who was elected to the Mysore state Vidhana Sabha as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Kanakapura between 1957 and 1962. He was a member of the Praja Socialist Party and during his tenure, he also held the position of Leader of the Opposition.
Early life
[edit]Linge Gowda was born in 1900 to Mr. Chikkanage Gowda and Mrs. Kempama in Malgal village of Kanakapura taluk. He pursued his early education at the Government School in Channapatna, Pre-university course in central college Bengaluru and later graduated in Arts from Maharaja College in Mysore. Later he married Ms Thayamma. After the completion of his studies.
Political career and development activities
[edit]Linge Gowda was involved in political activities with the Praja Socialist Party in Kanakapura, earlier known as Kanakanahalli. After the creation of the Kanakapura constituency in 1957, he was elected as a member of the legislative assembly. M Linge Gowda was known for his contributions towards the development of his constituency. He built schools, hospitals, and played an active role in the development of various agricultural, irrigation, and industrial projects.
Positions held
[edit]In addition to his political career, Mr. Gowda held various positions of responsibility in his constituency. He served as the President of Primary Land Development Bank in Kanakapura and was a member of the Town Planning Committee. He played a significant role in planning the current Kanakapura layout structure. Mr. Gowda also held the position of President of the City Municipal Council and he was also president of Mysore representative assembly.
