Mahthan or mahan rajputs are a clan of suryavanshi rajputs found in uttar pradesh,bihar and some parts of punjab.[citation needed] They are of vats gotra.[citation needed] They are prominently found in aurangabad district of bihar.They migrated to bihar from hoshiarpur district of punjab in 16th century after the battle of panipat.[citation needed]

Origins[edit]

They trace their origin from Rana vikramaditya mahthan of mewar kindom who belonged to guhila dynasty.In 1303,after the siege of chittorgarh by alauddin khilji they moved towards north and settled down in hoshiarpur district of punjab region.Once again a part of them migrated towards bihar in 16th century.[1][2]
