Maddalena Corvaglia (Galatina, January 12, 1980) is an Italian television presenter and showgirl.
Biography
[edit]Born in Galatina, she hails from Presicce, a town in the southern Salento region where she grew up. Her family consists of her mother Maria Isabella, a special education teacher, and her older brother Antonio, known as Tony, a lawyer like their father Salvatore, who passed away in 1995. At 17, she participated as a reserve in the Miss Italia 1997 contest after winning the title of Miss Wella Umbria.
Velina for Striscia la Notizia (1999 - 2002)
[edit]After graduating from the classical high school Dante Alighieri (now Rita Levi Montalcini Higher Education Institute) in Casarano, Lecce province, she participated in the 1999 casting for the blonde "velina" role on the TV show Striscia la Notizia and was selected on September 27th to co-host with Elisabetta Canalis from Sassari.
Subsequent Television Career
[edit]After her stint on Striscia la Notizia ended on June 8, 2002, she co-hosted the musical reality show Operazione Trionfo with Miguel Bosé and presented the daily summary of the same program on Italia 1. In the following years, she appeared in several shows such as Mandi e Maddy Candid Camera Club on Happy Channel and SKY Vivo, where she performed gags with Marco Milano. She also became a special correspondent for Alberto Castagna's show Stranamore for two seasons and co-hosted La Domenica del Villaggio alongside Davide Mengacci. In 2005, she co-hosted Striscia la Notizia for a week with former colleague Elisabetta Canalis on Canale 5.
In the summer of 2005, she participated in a pilot episode of the Rai 1 show Mister Archimede, co-hosting with Giovanni Muciaccia and Fabrizio Frizzi. In 2006, she hosted Sanremo Lab giovani, dedicated to selecting emerging singers for the renowned music festival. Also in 2006, she became a radio host for R101 and co-hosted the Miss Muretto contest in Alassio with Max Novaresi, and again in 2007 with Alvin. Between 2006 and 2007, she hosted the late-night candid camera show Balls of Steel with Marco Mazzocchi. In September 2007, she posed for the sexy calendar of Max magazine. In 2008, she co-hosted Scalo 76 on Rai 2 with Daniele Bossari and Paola Maugeri. In January 2008, she co-hosted the 15th edition of BravoGrazie with Franco Neri. From 2009 to 2011, she was a regular commentator on the talk show L'Arena. In December 2011, Maddalena appeared in the music video for Vasco Rossi's song Stammi vicino, the third single from the album Vivere o niente. On September 16, 2012, she co-hosted Una voce per Padre Pio nel mondo with Massimo Giletti, broadcast live from Canada.
From September 2012 to November 2014, she was a commentator on Verdetto finale and Domenica Live. In the summer of 2013, she was a contestant on the new reality-talent show Jump! Stasera mi tuffo, hosted by Teo Mammucari on Canale 5, where she placed third. On June 28, 2013, she again co-hosted Una voce per Padre Pio with Massimo Giletti and later hosted Maddy va veloce on Nuvolari, exploring the world of motorcycles at various circuits and events. In May 2014, she participated in the first edition of the talent show Si può fare! hosted by Carlo Conti on Rai 1, where she took first place, showcasing her skills in aerial silks and pole dance. In November 2014, she joined the new Italian digital terrestrial channel Agon Channel, hosting the new talent show My Bodyguard.
In the summer of 2015, she collaborated with the Norba Group and presented the five scheduled concerts of the 13th edition of Radionorba Battiti Live. On March 25, 2016, she appeared on the second episode of the seventh season of Ciao Darwin as the captain of the "Integratori" team, aired on Canale 5 and hosted by Paolo Bonolis. From 2016 to 2018, she co-hosted the summer edition of Paperissima Sprint with Vittorio Brumotti and the Gabibbo.
Personal Life
[edit]From 2002 to 2007, she was in a relationship with Enzo Iacchetti. On May 28, 2011, she married American musician Stef Burns, guitarist for Vasco Rossi's band, in Mirandola, Modena province. They have a daughter, Jamie Carlyn Birnbaum, born on September 28, 2011. The wedding was officiated by Vasco Rossi himself, thanks to a special authorization from the town's mayor; her witness was Elisabetta Canalis, for whom Maddalena later served as a witness in 2014. On January 19, 2017, the couple announced their separation.
