Known for his introverted nature and meticulous dedication, MC gained widespread attention for his second feature film, Sookshmadarshini (2024), which brought him significant acclaim for its thought-provoking narrative and visual depth.

Early life and education

[edit]

MC Jithin was born on 7 November 1990 in Iritty, Kannur, Kerala. Despite his introverted personality, he developed a deep passion for storytelling and cinema at an early age. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia at St. Joseph College of Communication, Changanassery, and a Master of Science in Visual Communication at the University of Madras, where he honed his filmmaking skills and creative vision.[1]

Career

[edit]

MC’s career began with short films such as Mallus (2011) and Water (2012), an award-winning public service advertisement that showcased his knack for addressing social issues through compelling visuals. His debut feature film, Nonsense (2018), explored the flaws in the education system and was praised for its fresh approach.[2][3]

However, it was his second film, Sookshmadarshini (2024), that catapulted him into the limelight. The movie, a Hitchcockian thriller set against a backdrop of human curiosity and interpersonal relationships, gained critical acclaim for its innovative storytelling. Critics lauded MC for his ability to blend emotional depth with cinematic artistry, marking him as a promising talent in Malayalam cinema.[4][5]

MC’s introverted nature allows him to focus deeply on his work, often channeling his personal reflections into his scripts. He has expressed that his reserved personality fuels his creativity, helping him craft authentic stories that resonate with audiences.

In addition to filmmaking, MC serves as the Head of the Film Studies Department at Don Bosco IMAGE, Vennala.
