Luz Saúde, founded in 2000 as Espírito Santo Saúde, is one of the main companies in the healthcare industry in Portugal.[1]

History

[edit]

In 2000, Luz Saúde was created under the name Espírito Santo Saúde. In that year, it began its activity by acquiring a majority stake in the share capital of Cliria - Hospital Privado de Aveiro and Hospital da Arrábida, in Vila Nova de Gaia.[2]

In February 2014, Luz Saúde (then Espírito Santo Saúde) completed its entry into the capital market, through an initial public offering. It thus became the first private company in the healthcare sector listed on Euronext Lisbon.[3]

In October 2014, following the collapse of Banco Espirito Santo, it was acquired by Fidelidade.[4]

Luz Saúde is planning to relist again on Euronext Lisbon through an initial public offering which is expected to happen on May 3, 2024.[5] It expects to have a market capitalisation over 1 billion euros, which would mark the entry to the PSI-20, the Portuguese index.[6]
