This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Louis Ralph Helguera von Rothschild-Haverkate (January 17, 1939 – 2007) born in Interlaken, Switzerland was a Swiss, French-Uruguayan national and a member of the prominent French Rothschild Family. He was a descendant of Édouard Alphonse James de Rothschild. Louis Ralph was a well known Swiss financier, philanthropist, art collector and vineyard owner who later immigrated to the South American country of Uruguay.
Early life
[edit]Born in Interlaken, Louis Ralph Helguera von Rothschild-Haverkate was son to Édouard Alphonse James de Rothschild (1868–1949) and Germaine Alice Halphen (1884–1975) two prominent bankers in Switzerland and France. Édouard Alphonse James de Rothschild was son to Leonora de Rothschild (1837–1911), the daughter of Lionel de Rothschild of the English branch of the family. Louis Ralph was raised in the Swiss mansion Château de Pregny which remains in the family.[1]

[edit]He received a dual degree from Harvard University in the United States and the University of Oxford in England. In 1969, he managed the de Rothschild bank in Paris with his cousin David René de Rothschild when it was nationalized by François Mitterrand's government.[2] After getting married and relocating to Uruguay in 1972, he acquired several hectares of land in the Maldonado Department as well as several residential and commercial properties throughout the country. Later on he created an architecture and development company known today as the WMW group[3]. In 1977 he was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Engel & Völkers AG, a luxury real estate agency based in Hamburg, Germany. He later acquired over 60% of the company's shares. The Helguera von Rothschild-Haverkate family still owns over 70% of the private land in Uruguay and numerous properties throughout the world remain in the family as well.
Personal Life
[edit]He served as the Chairman of the Conservatoire de Paris from 1954 to 1982, and the French Consistory from 1967 to 1982[4]. Louis Ralph married a Brazilian-Uruguayan national whilst living in England. They relocated to Uruguay in 1972 and had two daughters. He left his entirety of his investments and estate to his first born grandson Gaston Barreto Helguera von Rothschild-Haverkate.
