Los Angeles Cricket (LAC) is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization dedicated to the promotion and development of Cricket in the Los Angeles community. The organization's mission is to promote and develop the sport of cricket professionally in Los Angeles. LAC aims to provide opportunities for aspiring youth and young adults though academy and league programs.[1] LAC engages individuals across various age groups through educational programs, tournaments, and community events. The organization's activities are designed to increase the accessibility of cricket for the youth in Los Angles, emphasizing on infrastructure for the sport.
Headquarters
[edit]Los Angeles Cricket operates at the Sepulveda Basin Cricket Fields also known as the Leo Magnus Cricket Complex. [2] The cricket fields are permitted via Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation and the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
Mission and Objectives
[edit]Los Angeles Cricket aims to build cricket infrastructure and a sustainable youth cricket ecosystem in Los Angeles. By offering resources, coaching, and platforms for competition, it strives to advance cricket's profile in the region. The organization hosts a range of activities, including youth leagues, academy operations, and cricket clinics, aimed at improving skills and encouraging participation across the community. Abhimanyu Rajp, former United States national cricket team / USA Cricket member and now an admin for the sport of Cricket in Los Angeles heads up the organization.[3]
Cricket in the LA 2028 Olympics
[edit]LAC has been a supporter of inclusion of Cricket into Olympics from the forefront. Ever since Cricket has been included in the 2028 Summer Olympics,[4] there is noted boost the sport's visibility and participation in the United States, aligning with the organization's goals of expanding cricket's local footprint in Los Angeles.[5]
