Of Tuscan origins, son of Giordano Bruno Ventavoli, a film exhibitor and distributor, and nephew of Lorenzo Ventavoli , elected deputy in 1919, he continued his father's activity from 1948 and throughout the 1950s and 1960s. He also practiced rowing at a competitive level  and, under the pseudonym Venanzio Revolt , wrote many theatrical texts. Later he was a film critic collaborating with some magazines, as well as the author of several essays on cinema (among which two dedicated to the producer and director Giorgio Venturini and to the painter and set designer Italo Cremona ) and occasionally collaborated on production (with Serge Silberman , for The Milky Way by Luis Buñuel ). He edited the Italian dialogues of The Rainmaker by René Clément and Someone Behind the Door by Nicolas Gessner and was an actor in three films. His son, Bruno Ventavoli , also became a film critic and essayist.
