The Spanish language has evolved over time, and during the 21st century, new words have developed.[1]
This new vocabulary includes Spanish words and expressions used by young people[2] and is known for being short,[3] using foreign words from English,[4] and adapting to new technologies,[5] like dating apps, with the word "hacer un next".[6]

- Fife refers to generally heterosexual men who like football.[8] They are also considered to exhibit Machismo and even racism.[9][10]
- En plan… (transl. In plan…) is generally used to explain something, like o sea... (transl. I mean…).
- Petarlo (no word in English) is to make something epic, or incredible... Fundéu said that an "18th century term like "petar" has become slang in the 21st".[11]
