Draft:Levers and Chests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Levers and Chests is an upcoming dungeon-crawling video game currently under development by BitShift Entertainment. The studio is headed by Markus Persson, also known as Notch, the creator of Minecraft. Another key developer on the project is Daryl Zuniga.[1], who works as the Rendering Engineer[2].

The game is written in JavaScript with WebGL via TWGL[3], everything else is written from scratch by Notch himself. [4]

The game is inspired by ADOM and Ultima Underworld[5]. While Levers and Chests is still in its early stages of development, an open beta test is probably going to happen[6]

Gameplay

[edit]

It is a first person rouge-like dungeon-crawler with voxel graphics. Tile based dungeons and randomly generated. A player will have access to minimap, where he is able to make notes. The game will contain dangerous parts, they are fairly challenging and avoidable. If the player dies, they must restart the game.[7]

There are a lot of statistics in the game, upgradable and exploitable.

Underworld

[edit]

Game's main location is the underworld.

Overworld

[edit]

The player will be able to get to the overworld. It might have a different game style but a seamless transition, when going there. We also know, in overworld, there is a lot of travelling.[8]

Multiplayer

[edit]

While this is only probable, we might be expecting a multiplayer. It will be a co-op, real time gameplay.
