Lawrence C. Marsh is an American economist and Professor Emeritus at the University of Notre Dame, known for his work in econometrics, statistics, and public finance. He earned a Ph.D. in Econometrics from Michigan State University in 1976 and has had a distinguished career, including roles at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Chicago.

Career

Marsh began his career at the University of Notre Dame in 1975, where he taught courses in econometrics, statistics, and mathematical economics. He served as the Director of Graduate Studies in Economics for 13 years and co-founded the Midwest Econometrics Group (MEG), which has hosted annual meetings since 1991.[1]

In the private sector, Marsh worked as the Manager of User Targeting at Adknowledge, Inc., where he helped develop behavioral targeting algorithms for digital advertising.[2]

He also served as Provost at Profology Inc., an online platform for higher education professionals, where he contributed to its growth and secured investment funding.[3]

Research and Publications

Marsh is the author of the book Spline Regression Models, published by Sage Publications in 2001, which remains a widely cited work in econometrics.[4] His most recent book, Optimal Money Flow (2020), addresses economic challenges related to inflation and monetary policy.[5]

In April 2024, he published an article in The Kansas City Star, discussing personalized approaches in medical treatment.[6]
