[edit]Saipuram is a village located 5 km away from Vuyyuru in the Krishna District, in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Originally named Lakshmi Narasimhapura Agrahaaram, it was established by the King of Kondapalli in 1585 AD in honor of Swayambhu Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. The village is renowned for its rich Vedic culture.
Significance
[edit]Saipuram holds significant cultural and religious importance due to its enduring Vaidika traditions:
- At its peak, the village had around 300 Brahmin families dedicated to Vaidika parirakshana.
- Hundreds of students learned Vedas in local gurukulams.
- Prominent Vaidika pundits from the village were recognized by the British as evaluators of Vaidika teachings.
