Reasons for their emigration are not completely known but researchers have theorised they could have emigrated due to poverty, religious persecution and famine.
Culture: The Kraasna Estonians have despite majority assimilation into the Russian language and culture have retained a lot of their pagan beliefs and culture. Their culture is similar to Seto and to a lesser extent Voro.
Language:They used to speak the Kraasna dialect of South Estonian until the 20th century began but their dialect went mostly out of fashion in the 1930s and went completely extinct in the 1960s. Nowadays they speak the Russian language.
Religion:Their religion is not very well known so they are either atheist, Russian Orthodox or pagan faith similar to the Seto faith.
