Kosal Kumar was born to Mrs. Saraswati Sharma and Shri N.P. Sharma on 15th October 1976 in Chakslem Shahpur Patori, Bihar. He is a postgraduate from College of Art, University of Delhi in 2006. He practices sculpture professionally in Delhi. [1]

He started his career under the guidance and mentorship of eminent sculptor Prof. Shankho Chaudhuri at Garhi Studio, Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi in 1998.

To pursue a professional degree he studied Bachelor of Fine Arts (2002-2004) and continued his journey to Master of Fine Arts (Sculpture, 2004-2006) at College of Art, University of Delhi.

His brilliant work as a sculptor was recognised and he was awarded a scholarship by Lalit Kala Academy in 2006.

He worked as an Assistant Professor of sculpture at College of Art, New Delhi from 2010 to 2020.

He was awarded Senior Fellowship by Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2021-22). [2]

He continues to educate hundreds of young artists as Head of the Department, Sculpture at Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi. [3]
