Kishor Kumar Puttur is a politician from Karnataka, India, currently serving as the Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) for the Karnataka local body constituency. Born in Bottyady, Puttur, he has held various significant roles within the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), particularly in Dakshina Kannada district.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Kishor Kumar Puttur was born in Bottyady, a village in Puttur, to Ramanna Bhandari Bottyady, an RSS leader. He completed his master's degree from Mangalore University and was actively involved in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) during his college years.
Political Career
[edit]Kishor Kumar’s career spans numerous leadership roles:

Honorary President, Putturu Sahithya Sangama President, South Canara RTI Activist Group Honorary President, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Building Material Suppliers Union (Owners and Drivers) Although his name was considered for the BJP ticket in the Puttur constituency during the 2013, 2018, and 2023 Karnataka assembly elections, he was not selected. His name was also considered for the 2024 Lok Sabha MP seat, but the ticket went to Brijesh Chowta. Kishor later became the General Secretary of the BJP for the Dakshina Kannada district.
MLC Election Victory (2024)
[edit]In October 2024, following the election of Kota Srinivas Poojary to the Lok Sabha, the MLC seat for the Karnataka local body constituency was vacated. Kishor was given the BJP ticket for the by-election, which he won on October 24, 2024, with 3,654 votes, defeating the Congress candidate (1,957 votes) and SDPI (195 votes).

[edit]Student Welfare Officer at Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri (2009–2011) Senate representative of Swamy Vivekananda College for Mangalore University Represented Mangalore University in inter-university Kabbadi matches First place in Yoga competition organized by SDM College, Ujire Kishor also hoisted the national flag in Kashmir on January 26, 2011, in response to a challenge from Kashmiri separatists. He received the Rajya Puraskara in Scouts and Guides and served as Mangalore Vibhag Pramukh for the RSS event “Sarahad ko Pranam” (Border Survey).
