Kevin P. Hare is an American author.[1], educator, and entrepreneur[2] known for his contributions to computer science education. He has over two decades of experience teaching computer science at the high school and college levels and has authored a widely recognized textbook for AP Computer Science Principles[3].

Early Life and Education

Kevin Hare was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He developed an interest in computer science at a young age and pursued his passion through formal education. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Catholic University of America, a master's degree in secondary education from Providence College, and a second master's degree in computer science from Georgia Tech.

Kevin Hare has dedicated more than 20 years to teaching computer science in high schools. His teaching career began at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, DC, where he taught a variety of courses, including AP Computer Science A, AP Computer Science Principles, Web Design, Mobile App Development, Video Design, and TV Broadcasting. He later continued his teaching career in Atlanta, Georgia and San Diego, California.

Hare is the author of "Computer Science Principles: The Foundational Concepts of Computer Science - For AP® Computer Science Principles." This textbook is widely used in high school AP Computer Science courses and is praised for making complex concepts accessible to students[4]. Entrepreneurship

In addition to his teaching and writing, Kevin Hare co-founded the technology company BoxJump[2]. BoxJump focuses on technology for traveling athletes. Kevin Hare also owned and operated a gym, CrossFit OTW, in San Diego, California[8]. The gym was dedicated to bringing fitness to people of all ages and was recognized for its community impact and dedication to health and wellness​[8].
