Kerry Mwita is a human rights activist from Migori Kenya, working to advance human rights through advocacy on Gender Based Violence, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and social justice. Fueled by the alarming proportions of GBV in Migori County, Mwita is known for a number of impactful advocacy campaigns in the fight against gender violence and the advancement of social justice in Kenya.
He serves as the Board Vice Chairperson at Safe Engage Foundation, Youth Advocate at NAYA Kenya, Emerging Leader for Change Fellow at Women Deliver, Next Gen Fellow at Forum Civ and Advocacy Champion at Nguvu Collective.
He has notably spearheaded a campaign championing for the establishment of a Gender Justice Court in Migori. He has also been involved in the anti Femicide movement in Kenya and leverages media advocacy to champion for gender equality and human rights.Kerry has additionally been at the forefront among other civil society actors petitioning the clearance and subsequent election of a tea factory director implicated in allegations of gross misconduct through launching an online petition that garnered 4,479 signatures. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Laws degree at Mount Kenya University.
His work has seen him being feted with a number of awards including The African Art for Advocacy Award 2023 and Finalist - Africans Rising Activist of the year 2024. Additionally he has been feted Kenya's youngest Top 40 under 40 Men award laureate by Business Daily Africa.
