KATAGI is a Japanese rapper originally from Downtown Eastside, Vancouver, Canada[1]. Also known as Alienazyn[2], he is a member of the rap crew Muragumo[3]. He started rapping after hearing the song Me Myself and I by De La Soul[4]. Since the early to mid 2010s Katagi has been incorporating alternative rock melodies and melancholy lyrics into his music[4][5].

Muragumo

[edit]

Katagi formed the musical collective Muragumo in 2003 with ES, who is now a member of THE ROC STOCK[6].

Recording Style

[edit]

Youtube

[edit]

Being an avid lifter himself, Katagi ran a fitness related Youtube channel where he translated the teachings of American and Canadian personal trainers into Japanese for a Japanese audience. Despite gaining over 7000 followers in under 1 year, he terminated his channel in late 2019 after receiving a lot of online backlash as a result of incorporating battle raps into his content[12].
