Kaiko (海子 in Japanese) or Kaiko (कायको in Hindi) is a name with several origins and meanings, mainly related to Eastern cultures. In Japanese, Kaiko is composed of the kanji 海 (kai), meaning "sea," and 子 (ko), meaning "child," and is translated as "child of the sea." In Hawaii, the name is also associated with the meaning "child of the sea," due to the use of the word kai, which means "sea" or "ocean" in Hawaiian. In Hindi, Kaiko (कायको) means "anonymous" "why?" "who?" and was a nickname used for unidentifiable Gypsy leaders in the Iberian Peninsula after the persecution by the kings of Spain and Portugal during the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Kaiko can be found as a gender-neutral name in Japan, Hawaii, among Gypsy descendants in the Iberian Peninsula, and as an expression in the Hindi language.
