Junius Elmore Dovell was an educator and author in Florida.

Elma Dovell of Orlando was his mother. He graduated from Antioch College in Ohio and of Stetson at DeLand, Florida. He married Lois Adrienne Daane in 1936.[1] He wrote his Phd dissertation at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1947 on the history of Everglades.[2]

He wrote "A Factual Report on Annexation for the Metropolitan Area of Jacksonville, Florida" published in 1962. The University of North Florida has a copy with handwritten annotations, a letter of transmittal from Dovell and Smith Consultants to Mayor Haydon Burns and Council President Brad Tredinnick, Members of the City Council and the City Commission, and City of Jacksonville.[3]

Adrian Dovell was his son.[4]
