Josh Kurfirst is a music business executive, partner, and the global head of festivals for William Morris Endeavor.[1][2] Kurfirst was hired by WME’s former head of music, Marc Geiger, in 2012 to construct and lead a festival focused booking team for WME Music.[3]
Early Years
[edit]Kurfirst grew up in Westchester County and graduated NYU with the class of 2000.[2] Josh Kurfirst is the only son of music industry executive and Talking Heads and Ramones long time manager, Gary Kurfirst.[4]
Career
[edit]In 2002 Josh Kurfirst was hired by Island Records founder and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Chris Blackwell, and helped Blackwell and his father, the late Gary Kurfirst, launch two new music ventures: a talent management firm, Kurfirst-Blackwell Entertainment, and Rx Records.[5]
In 2007 Kurfirst partnered with Wasserman Media Group and Yerba Buena’s, Andres Levin, to help launch Music Fresca, a Latin alternative music festival, which took place at Bayfront Park in Miami on October 6.[2]
From 2008 - 2015 Kurfirst was active in launching various festivals.[6]
In 2009 Kurfirst joined the E Street Band member and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Steven Van Zandt’s, Renegade Nation, as COO.[2]
In 2012 Kurfirst was hired by WME as Global Head of Festivals.[7]
In 2016 Kurfirst was named by Billboard to their Music Business “40 Under 40” list. In 2018, he was made a partner at WME.[7]
