John Tamilio III (Born January 2, 1968) is an Ordained Minister who holds standing in the National Association of Congregational Churches (NACCC) and currently serves the Congregational Church of Canton (Massachusetts). He is also a Professor of Philosophy at Salem State University. Tamilio has taught courses in Philosophy, English (literature and composition), Political Science, and Religion at Salem State, Endicott College, Gordon College, North Shore Community College, Saint Paul School of Theology, and Andover Newton Theological School. Tamilio is also a professional guitarist and the founding member of the Boston-area band 3D. An internationally published scholar, Tamilio is the author of four books. His first, Blind Painting: Poems (published in 2003 by William L. Bauhan Publishers), was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in Letters.

Tamilio was born and raised in Beverly, Massachusetts, the youngest child of John Tamilio Jr. and Marion G. Tamilio (née Dobson). Although he has lived in Wakefield, New Hampshire, Overland Park, Kansas, and Lakewood, Ohio, he currently resides in Beverly with his wife Cynthia whom he married on July 18, 2014. He is the father of three children: Sarah Elizabeth Tamilio, John "Jay" Tamilio IV, and Thomas Jason James Tamilio. He is the stepfather of Emily Marie Belanger (née Mellinger) and Natalie Rose Mellinger.

Tamilio graduated from Beverly High School in 1986. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Philosophy from Salem State College (1990), a Master of Arts in British and American Literature from Northeastern University (1992), a Master of Divinity degree from Andover Newton Theological School (1999), and a Ph.D. in Practical and Systematic Theology from the Boston University School of Theology (2011). He also complete post-doctoral research at Harvard Divinity School.
