John Laviter is an American businessman who founded Northpoint Asset Management and served as its chief executive officer (CEO) until December 2023.[1]

Early life and education

Born in the U.S., Laviter competed in a national karate championship where he placed third.[2]

Laviter earned a bachelor's degree in marketing and advertising communications with academic honors from Brigham Young University in 2004.[3] In 2010, he obtained an MBA from the International School of Management and later alumni status from Harvard Business School after completing the 3-year O.P.M. diploma program.[1]

Career

Laviter began his career as a research intern at FMV Opinions, Inc. in 2004. He then worked as a financial analyst at Kunz Investments, where he later worked as the asset manager.[4]

In 2006, Laviter established Northpoint Asset Management, a real estate management and investment firm based in Utah.[1] In 2023, Northpoint Asset Management was listed on the Inc. 5000.[5] In December 2023, Laviter stepped down as CEO and sold his shares in Northpoint Asset Management, Inc. to LP First Capital.[6][7]

From 2020 to 2024, Laviter served as the board of trustees of the Southern Virginia University.[3][8]

In November 2024, Laviter committed to funding a $2 billion real estate investment trust (REIT) in partnership with Kunz Investments, a venture capital group based in Marin County, California.[9]
