Arsonists
[edit]In 1993, Jise, along with 4 others; Q-Unique, D-Stroy, Freestyle, and Swel Boogie, founded the hip-hop/rap group Arsonists in Bushwick, Brooklyn, NY. , which originally went by the name Bushwick Bomb Squad. The group eventually grew to eight members, with the induction of three new members, Kinetic NRG, Ching Rock, and Kriminal Krash. The group then released a single, "The Session", in 1996, which was played on New York radio and brought offers from record labels. They signed with the label Fondle 'Em Records and changed their name of the group to the Arsonists. They released their first album, As the World Burns, in 1999 on Matador Records, an indie rock label that ventured into hip hop music for the release. The album received critical acclaim, but did not achieve mainstream commercial success; it reached No. 78 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The group went from eight members to five members down to three: Q-Unique, Jise One and Swel Boogie, for their follow-up album, Date of Birth in 2001. Kansas City's alternative weekly newspaper, The Pitch, described them as "one of the best live bands in hip-hop" in 2001. On 18 August 2011, Arsonists played the first show in 11 years that had all four members on stage at Hip Hop Kemp in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic.
Solo career
[edit]Jise, during his tenure with the Arsonists, also ventured into a solo music career. Jise released his first solo album, Lt. Worf Chronicles, in 2008, with the label Creative Juices Music. A year later, in 2009, he released Chronicles 2. 6 years later, in 2015, he released his final studio album, The Passion of Jise. Audio and art for each album are present on Jise's YouTube channel.
