Methods
[edit]Jewelry theft is often committed by organized rings. Thieves themselves do not sell stolen jewelry, but use people called fences to sell it on their behalf. The money from stolen jewelry is then laundered in cities or countries where the theft did not take place.[2]
In the United States, the most popular cities where fencers sell jewelry are Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, and New York City.[2]
