After attending Old Dominion University, Haywood enlisted in the United States Army as a Combat Medic, a role that would shape his future focus on community health and well-being.
Haywood later pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Sports and Health Science from American Military University and an MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Administration. He is currently working toward a Doctorate in Public Administration, further demonstrating his commitment to public service and governance.
Military Service
[edit]During his tenure in the U.S. Army, Haywood served as a Combat Medic, earning certifications from Air Assault and Pathfinder Schools. One of his most meaningful assignments was a deployment to Honduras, where he worked in a local emergency room, providing critical care with limited resources. He was also stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; and Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Career and Community Involvement
[edit]Following his military service, Haywood became deeply involved in his local community. He serves as the head wrestling coach at Northeast High School, instilling discipline and teamwork in young athletes. His wife, Rebekah, is also active in local sports as a cheerleading coach.
Haywood’s political career began with a successful campaign for Ward 8 City Council in 2024. His platform focuses on infrastructure improvements, public safety, and transparent governance. He has been an advocate for fair salaries for first responders, expanded parks and recreational facilities, and addressing traffic and road maintenance issues.
