  • Comment: The article needs reliable, significant, secondary coverage of the subject himself, rather than just interviews (not considered reliable) or citations of his work. A few significant sources are always preferable to a wall of references that only mention the subject in passing. Furthermore, the tone of the article is vaguely promotional, and it reads like an indiscriminate list of career achievements; please see WP:NOTCV. WeirdNAnnoyed (talk) 14:35, 29 December 2024 (UTC)

Jeremy Murphy is a media commentator who appears regularly on TV, radio, podcasts, and streaming platforms to offer perspective on journalism, "infotainment," celebrity, societal influences on news gathering, and the culture clash between millennials and veterans in the work force. He is often quoted in publications like the New York Post,[1] The New York Daily News,[2] Bloomberg,[3] Forbes[4] and others, as well as being an on-air guest on iHeart Radio,[5] Sirius XM,[6] Dr. Drew,[7] ABC Radio's Rita Cosby,[8] and Frank Morano,[9][10] the OAN cable network, the nationally syndicated Price of Business,[11] Chicago AM 560[11] and numerous other platforms.

Murphy's first book, "F*ck Off, Chloe"[12] was optioned by Skyhorse Publishing[12] after posts he'd made to the popular Facebook group PR Czars about media caught the attention of the book industry. Released in March 2022, the publication received positive press coverage, including features in the New York Post,[13] WWD,[14] Avenue Magazine,[15] Park Magazine,[16] Grazia,[17] Radar,[18] OK,[19] and New York Lifestyles,[20] among other media. New York Post book editor Mackenzie Dawson opinioned, "Veteran publicist throws shade at Gen Z staff in hilarious snarky book."[13]

Critical reaction to "F*ck Off, Chloe" led to the author's second book "Too Good to Fact Check: Flying the Skies with Stars, Scotch, and Scandal"[21] co-written with Sophia Paulmier. The book was released on August 27, 2024 and detailed the decade Murphy spent as the creator and editor of the CBS glossy magazine Watch[22] including interactions with celebrities like Celine Dion, Mary J Blige, LL Cool J, Neil Patrick Harris, Harrison Ford, and numerous others. The book received national media coverage, including by Cindy Adams of the New York Post,[23] Richard Johnson from the New York Daily News[2], Forbes[4], WWD[14], The Daily Front Row,[24] Bloomberg[3], Flaunt Magazine,[25] Morning Honey,[26] and other venues.

The author's first developed a media profile at CBS Television, where he served as Vice President of Communications from 2002-2016. There, he created and launched the network's print magazine Watch[22] whose readership grew to 200,000 and became a regular presence on newsstands at Wal-Mart,[27] Hudson News, Barnes & Noble, Krogers, and other retailers. The publication developed a niche by bringing TV stars around the world for glossy fashion shoots[28] including "Good Wife" actors Julianna Margulies and Christine Baranaski; "NCIS'" Michael Weatherly, Cote DePablo, Pauley Perrette; "Big Bang Theory's" Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, and Jim Parsons; "NCIS: Los Angeles'" LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell"; and "How I Met Your Mother's" Neil Patrick Harris, Cobie Smulders, and Jason Segal. The magazine's October 2015 cover of Margulies, photographed by Patrick Demarchelier at the Hotel du Cap in the South of France, was featured on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon."[29] Its August 2009 cover of Neil Patrick Harris became the subject of an entire "Late Show with David Letterman" segment. The October 2012 cover with NCIS star DePablo in Paris at the Hotel Plaza Athénée made the cover of WWD and numerous TV news shows.[30] And its October 2010 cover of "Big Bang Theory's" Cuoco made national headlines when the actress revealed to the magazine she had a secret relationship with co-star Galecki.[31][32][33]

A 2014 marketing campaign for the magazine featuring British violinist Charlie Siem received critical praise by Adweek,[34] WWD,[35] The Daily,[36] The Insider, CBS Local,[37] and other media platforms. The musician wrote and recorded his very first composition, which the publication used as a promotional tool on its digital platforms. It became the subject of a TVGN network documentary.[38]

The executive was chosen in 2014 to launch CBS Interactive's CNET magazine, a glossy publication that extended the brand of game and electronic reviews onto the printed page. Murphy served as its General Manager.

After leaving CBS in 2016, Murphy formed the New York media agency 360bespoke.[39][40][41][42][43][44]

In 2017, Murphy was featured in the documentary "A Very British Hotel"[45] which aired on the UK's Channel 4 television network.

Murphy was born March 31, 1975, in Queens New York and raised in south Florida. He attended Florida Atlantic University from 1993-1998 and began his career with Knight Ridder newspapers in Boca Raton, Fla., and Bradenton, Fla. He went on to become a reporter at the trade magazine Mediaweek.
