Life and career

In 2023, Brown wrote and directed his first play, The Bench, which played a run of shows at The Customs House, in South Shields.[3] In a review, the Sunderland Echo said: His dialogue is great – at times very funny and others extremely moving. He explores the pressures and abuses piled on to modern-day black footballers, while also compassionately looking at how tough life is for those living on the breadline.[4]

In June 2024, Brown and ITV presenter Ian Payne (newsreader) hosted 'an evening' with event.[5]

In March 2024, Brown announced he was to leave his role of presenting on BBC Look North (North East and Cumbria), with his final show on 24 May 2024. Brown revealed he is set to work on new playwriting projects.[6]
