Draft:James Storum
Appearance
James Storum (March 31, 1847 – 1910)[1] was an educator and civic leader.[2] In 1882 he became Virginia Normal and Collegiate Institute (now Virginia State University) first principal. He along with Alfred W. Harris were removed in 1885 after allegations of mismanagement.[3]
After all what was his reward? Reduced from a position that he so successfully taught for years, which was no doubt the cause of this sudden death. It was but a few weeks prior to his death that the editor of this paper met him at the corner of 14th and U streets northwest and discussed briefly matters pertaining to the schools... James Storum is dead. We have known when his name was a household word to honest people.[1]
