Draft:JAMB

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

YAMB (Russian: ЯМБ) is a programming language developed in the late 1970s in the USSR. It was used on machines such as the EBM Iskra-554, Iskra-555, Iskra-2106, and Neva-501. YAMB stands for the phrase "Language for Accounting Machines" (Russian: Язык Машин Бухгалтерских). Another version of the origin of the name YAMB is that it is an acronym for the initials of the head of the development team, Marina Borisovna Yaroshevskaya (Russian: Ярошевская Марина Борисовна) (who has been working at the Special Design Bureau of Computing Technology (SKB VT) "Iskra" since 1965; has been the General Director since 1992; Chair of the Board of Directors; Honored Machine Builder of the Russian Federation and an Honorary Machine Builder; a graduate of LITMO (1964)). In addition to being used on the aforementioned machines, the YAMB language was also included in the IBM PC/XT-compatible computer package "Iskra 1030.11."
