Investment Casting Institute

The Investment Casting Institute (ICI) is a is a professional, technical and trade association dedicated to the advancement of the investment casting industry.

Along with partner organization the European Investment Casters Federation, ICI and EICF collectively represent investment casting foundries, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and foundry suppliers to provide resources, education, certification, and networking opportunities to member companies worldwide.

History

The Institute was established in 1953 to promote the investment casting process and its applications. Investment casting, also known as lost-wax casting, is an ancient manufacturing process used to produce precision metal components. The Institute continues to support modern applications of investment casting, which are critical to industries such as aerospace, automotive, defense, energy, and industrial infrastructure.

This process is valued for its ability to produce intricate shapes, tight tolerances, and high-quality finishes, making it ideal for applications requiring precision and durability.

Mission

The mission of the Investment Casting Institute is to unite professionals in the investment casting industry to promote collaboration, foster innovation, and support education.

The ICI offers technical trainings, certification programs, an access to a comprehensive library of technical resources, and multiple technical and regional meetings every year. The ICI also publishes INCAST Magazine a monthly magazine providing industry news, trends, and technical insights. In 2023, the Institute received a grant from America Makes for the research of direct 3D printed ceramic shells.

The Investment Casting Institute is headquartered in Montvale, New Jersey, United States.
