International Pashto Language Day is on May 29th. Pashto is spoken by the ethnic Pashtuns and is recognized as one of the official languages of Afghanistan and a regional language of Pakistan. It is an Eastern Iranian language in the Indo-European family, known as Afghani in historical Persian literature. Worldwide, there are about 40 million Pashto speakers.
