Overview
[edit]Indigrow University is the first nonprofit educational organization in Bangladesh focused on empowering indigenous students through practical entrepreneurial and technical education.[1] Established in May 2023, Indigrow University started as a space for offering tailored coursework and mentorship towards marginalized indigenous students in Bangladesh to enable them to contribute meaningfully to their communities and society at large.
The organization serves as a platform for indigenous students to learn entrepreneurial and technical skills through practical coursework, social projects, and mentorship from industry experts. Indigrow University aims to bridge the gap between traditional education and modern technical requirements, particularly for underrepresented groups in Bangladesh.
Mission
[edit]The mission of Indigrow University is to foster the development of practical skills and entrepreneurial thinking among indigenous students in Bangladesh. By providing students with real-world knowledge, tools, and mentorship, the organization seeks to cultivate the next generation of social entrepreneurs and community leaders.
Through these efforts, Indigrow empowers students to implement social projects that address issues such as environmental sustainability, healthcare access, and economic development within the underserved communities.
History
[edit]Indigrow University was founded in May 2023 as the first Bangladeshi nonprofit focused on offering hands-on technical and entrepreneurial education specifically for indigenous students. Since its founding, the organization has raised over 20,000 USD in funding and built a team of over 60 volunteers. In its first year of operation, the university established a few partnerships with local educational institutions in Chittagongs. In recent months, Indigrow managed to expand its impact to Southeastern areas of Bangladesh, including Rangamati and Khagrachari.
The university has supported over 170 students in completing over 52 social projects. These projects range from environmental conservation initiatives to educational awareness campaigns for indigenous students. Furthermore, the organization's entrepreneurship program provides mentorship to launch initiatives by students within underserved communities on areas such as eco-friendly product development and digital solutions for indigenous education.
