The Indian Debating League (IDL) is an annual English-language debating tournament for Indian School Students. IDL, is the biggest debating tournament in India where students first compete to be in their State Debate Team and then State teams compete in IPL kind format. IDL has been backed by 13 International Debate Coaches including Harish Natarajan, the man who debated IBM's AI[1].

The First IDL Competition was held online in 2021 with 30 States/UT teams. For Senior Category the trophy was held by Team Delhi and Runner up was Team West Bengal[2]. For Middle Category the trophy was held by Team Uttar Pradesh and Runner up was Team Rajasthan[3]. For Junior Category the trophy was held by Team Haryana and Runner up was Team Maharashtra.

The IDL Governing Council is responsible for the league's functions, including tournament organization. Its members are:[

Format

Indian Debating League uses combination of 3 different debating format. Stage 1, state team selection consist of 1 Vs 1 Debating matches.Top 5 debaters from each state and each category are selected to be part of State Team.

Round 2, Interstate Matches uses 3 Vs 3 Asian Parlimantary format. Then top 4 states for each category are invited for Round 3 - Semis and Finals.

Round 3 uses 3 Vs 3 World Schools Debating Format.

Best Speaker Award

In senior category best Speaker award went to captain of Team Delhi Sarah Sahdev and second best speaker to Arunav Ghosh. Best Speaker for middle category went to Ivy Khati. And best speaker for Junior category went to Laschelle Rodrigues.
