India as a political entity refers to all the times 'India' has existed as a political entity.
Even though for most of history 'India' has existed as an physiographical region denoting all land east of the Indus.
But 'India' has also existed as a political entity usually in form of Pan-Indian States (Empires,Kingdoms,Republics)
The Following are :
Mauryan Empire (Jambudvipa)[1]
Delhi Sultanate (Hind and Sind)[2]
Mughal Empire (Hindustan)[3]
Other political entities which encompassed majority of the Indian Subcontinent are :
Gupta Empire
Maratha Confederacy
Vijaynagar Empire
But these did not call themselves as an Indian Entity.
