iluli by Mike Lamb (i/ /l/ /u/ /l/ /i/) is a YouTube channel founded by the VP of Platforms and Engineering at Pfizer, Mike Lamb. The channel is known for its animated educational content, discussing tech, health and wellbeing, smart thinking and earth and space.
The word ‘iluli’ does not contain a capital letter ‘I’, as Lamb wanted a brand name that looked and sounded palindromic. Narrated by Mike Lamb and animated by Mowe studios, videos on the channel are usually around five minutes in length. As of September 2024, iluli by Mike Lamb has 600 thousand subscribers and over 60 videos.
History
The iluli by Mike Lamb YouTube channel was created on 28th February 2019 with the first four videos being explainers about Encryption, AI, Open Source and Outdated Tech. All featured Mike Lamb’s voiceover and Mowe animation.
Over time the videos have evolved to include a recurring cast of animated characters, including one that resembles Mike Lamb. The first of these, with distinctive blue skin, appeared in the ‘Skipping Software Updates is More Dangerous Than You Think’ video in February 2020 and the full cast settled to their current iteration in December 2022’s ‘Does Science Have a Bias Problem?’
Over five years the channel also evolved to include regular blog posts and a monthly substack for subscribers to learn more about each month’s video topic.
Mike Lamb
Mike Lamb has worked at Pfizer for over 20 years, after his first role at Wyeth UK. Throughout his career his interest has been in the ‘intersection between healthcare and technology’.[1]
His job roles at Pfizer include Senior Director - Architecture, Engineering and Development; Vice President, Global Digital Platforms, Engineering, Operations and Rapid Response; and (correct as of Sep 2024) he is currently employed as VP, Platforms and Engineering.
Awards
In Spring 2024 iluli by Mike Lamb won two Webby Awards winning in both the Jury and the People’s Voice categories for best video in the Health & Wellness category for the video. Magic Mushrooms: A Mental Health Cure?
