He was approached by General Santiago Rodríguez Masagó to join the restoration cause. He fought in the assault on Guayubín on February 21, 1863, and was also in the occupation from Sabaneta. After the failure of the movement, he evaded the persecution of the authorities, he fled to Haiti, and after the uprising August 16 in Capotillo, returned to arms under the orders of José Antonio Salcedo.[1]

He entered Santiago fighting at the end of August. After that, the occupants evacuated the city; he was appointed Commander of Weapons of the same. In November 1863, he was sent to the Line to carry out tasks of organizing the troops, and on the 3rd of December he was transferred to the Santa Cruz camp, to assist President Salcedo who was campaigning in that region. He provided services in the border area of El Carrizal and also operated alongside President Salcedo on the fronts of the Eastern region.[1]

After the war, he joined the Blue Party. He would fight in the Six Years' War against Buenaventura Báez and his annexation attempts. He died in his birthplace, Sabaneta, on July 19, 1890.[1]
