IK-7 is a prison camp located in the Republic of Karelia near Segezha. The prison address is Ulitsa Leygubskaya, 186420, Republic of Karelia, Russia, 186422. IK-7 is a corrective labor colony which currently houses Vladimir Kara-Murza after he was transferred from FKU IK-3 for not standing up when ordered to by a guard.[1]
Reports of Torture
[edit]There have been many reports of torture occurring inside IK-7. Reports include beatings upon entering the prison and being forced to chant negative words such as 'I am worthless', with many beatings administered to keep people in line. Human rights are allegedly breached with those who attempt to keep their rights locked in cells with temperatures below freezing and without clothing. Many accounts of rape have been identified and denied by the Russian Government.[2]
