The Higher Teacher Training College of Technical Education (ENSET) is a Cameroonian higher education institution of the University of Douala, located in Douala.

Mission

The primary mission of this institution is to:

  • Train Technical College Teachers (PCET);
  • Train Technical High School Teachers (PLET);
  • Train Senior Business Executives;
  • Conduct fundamental and applied research in various fields;
  • Design and implement industrial products;
  • Provide expertise to national administrations, international organizations, and national and international companies.

Organization and Operation

With the integration of this institution into the LMD system, students of ENSET Douala are now referred to as "pedagogical engineers" or "Business Executives," as they receive training both as engineers and as psycho-pedagogues.

Its graduates are recruited by the Ministry of Secondary Education as teachers in technical and professional high schools, and many also find employment in large companies, both in Cameroon and worldwide.

This institution benefits from:

  • Collaborations and partnerships with foreign universities and schools (Polytechnique Montreal);
  • Research contracts funded by national companies and international organizations.

Admission

  • Level I (1st Year): Admission is through written entrance exams and is open to candidates holding a Baccalaureate in C, E, F, G series, and the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCEAL) S1, S2, S3, S4 or A1, A2, A3, A4; eligible candidates undergo oral examinations.
  • Level III (3rd Year): Admission is by title and is open to candidates holding a BTS, DUT, or a Bachelor's degree.
  • Level IV (4th Year): Admission is by application and interview and is open to candidates holding a Master's degree, an engineering degree, or any other recognized equivalent diploma. For candidates holding a DIPET I, admission is based on application review; a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in high school or college is required. Note: candidates must be under 32 years old (except for holders of DIPET 1 for at least 3 years).

Curriculum

Five levels of study for two teaching cycles: The curriculum of each level includes modules divided into credit units (CU), each of which must be validated.

Five specialties: The specialties are managed by option departments: Industrial Computing, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Administrative Techniques, Economic and Management Techniques. All teaching and research activities are carried out within the departments.

During their training, students undertake several internships in companies in the country and then in technical colleges and high schools.

Each student presents a dissertation at the end of each cycle, which is the result of research conducted over nearly a year.

Diplomas

  • DIPET I: Diploma of Technical Education Teacher Grade 1 (Bachelor's degree + 3 years);
  • DIPET II: Diploma of Technical Education Teacher Grade 2 (Bachelor's degree + 5 years);
  • Technological Bachelor's degree - Bachelor's degree + 3 years
  • Technological Master's degree and Research Master's degree - Master's degree + 5 years

History

In 2004, ENSET opened three new specialties: Social and Family Economics (Esf), Textile Industry and Clothing (Ith), and Woodworking (Meb).
